REACH
Overview
REACH is one of the most complex and far-reaching chemical management regulations ever adopted. It applies to all chemical substances and defines obligations for all manufacturers, importers and downstream users of chemicals. The objectives of REACH are compatible with the industry’s commitment to Responsible Care and increasing public access to information on chemicals. Two regimes are now co-existing in Europe: EU REACH applies to the 27 EU Member States and in the 3 countries participating in the EEA (European Economic Area - Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) while UK REACH applies in Great Britain.
Details of importance for non-European companies
In addition to the 27 EU Member States, EU REACH is incorporated in the EEA (European EconomicArea), making it a regulation also in the 3 EEA countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway that are not EU members. UK REACH solely applies in Great Britain.
